Appreciate the little things.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Mt 10:29-31

Jesus loves the little things, Jesus prefers the heart to the outward appearance, the humble to the exalted, the little sparrow, the child, the poor to the rich. Should we not then love the same, or at least emulate such things?

We often live our lives working at the big things, worrying about whether or not we can afford our repayments, pay off our debts, maybe lose our homes. Yet we forget to appreciate that we are not here to worry, but to enjoy the wonderful things given to us by God that we never notice. Have we stood outside in the warmth of the sunlight, felt the gentle breeze on our skin, heard the buzzing of the insects and the brush of the leaves? At that moment, the peace and the clarity of our existence comes upon us, and we are closer to God than we would ever be, fearing what may come.

You see, the little things, they are what bring us to a greater awareness of our Lord, because they take away the facade of the false reality within which we live. The houses, the cars, the shops, the nightclubs, even the churches, they give us an illusion of infrastructure and solidity, of a society that has eternity in it, which it does not. These things are all passing away, but the little things will not.

Its up to you to decide what the little things are, but they will always bring contrast to the bigger things, meditation on scripture could be considered a little thing, and contrasts worldly worries. Every Christian should be doing such things, I have found that in deepest depression and worry, to simply read a scripture like the one above, and to pray it to the God who loves the very hairs on my head..alleviates even the greatest fears.

Folks, we are entering a very dark period in human history, now more than ever we must learn to appreciate the little things.

God bless you.
